Da {American} Booty

I really wanted to name my blog something along the lines of The Hip-Hop Housewife…and when it didn’t really make sense…I was like eh, maybe I’ll just have all the blog titles after hip-hop lyrics…or lyrics in general.  I moved against it because a) it makes it more complicated and b) people don’t get my references (there was a epic battle with my mother regarding dog-eat-dog vs. doggy dog world since she was unfamiliar with the wise words of Snoop-a-loop..errr Snoop Lion).  But that doesn’t mean that won’t happen from time to time, hip-hop or otherwise.  10 points if you automatically got a little Tribe Called Quest in your head…

Anyway.  I was “wise” enough to bring back 2 suitcases to the states when I only needed 1 for the clothes I was bringing, just for the purpose of having one to stock up on American booty.  I had ordered quite a bit that was delivered to my mom’s (clothes for the most part) and was able to shop for other items that I was missing/carving.  So that was really good.  But to be honest, most things I could live without.  But here’s a list of what I came back with:

  • 2 pairs of jeans
  • waterproof Sealskinz gloves for E & I (review to come later)
  • dress socks for E
  • solid black bathing suit for whirlpool/sauna here

  • Super cute Nike running ¼ zip
  • Golf shirt
  • Long sleeve golf shirt for E

  • Charlie bears for Stella
  • Pumpkin Coffee
  • Twisty tie’s
  • Pumpkin Spice M&Ms
  • Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Granola Bars

  • Face lotion
  • Sugar Free Coffee Syrup (Hazelnut and Kahlua)
  • Lip stain
  • Pressed powder

Not such a bad haul, huh?  Unfortunately, since I didn’t have my sea shipment in yet, I couldn’t remember what I had already sent over.  So it turns out I didn’t really need the marshmallows or graham crackers…well do you ever really NEED them?   But you know what I mean.  I’m sure they won’t go to waste though.  And now as E says, we look like we’re doomsday preppers (more on that later).

That haul with my actual clothes I brought on the trip filled me to capacity in terms of weigh limit.  I was actually prepared to pay for overweight luggage on one bag- but it ended up working with some rearranging at the kiosk, moving items from 1 bag to another.  Everyone wins because I love saving $60!   But there are still 2 full grocery bags of things I wanted to take with me that will have to wait until December: pumpkin butter, Pup-peroni, more Charlie bears (Stella requires many, many treats), more Luna bars, canned pumpkin, canned black beans, more GC candles, more hand soap…just to name a few.  I’ll get you next time America….
